YOUNGSTERS at an after-school club rolled up their sleeves and got ready for Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes last night.
Children at the QEST After -School Club, held at Stoke Prior First School, have a light dinner each evening and will be tucking into some scrumptious pancakes next week.
Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day, which this year falls next Tuesday, February 8, marks the beginning of Lent - a period of abstinence - on Ash Wednesday.
lFor delicious pancakes mix 120g of plain flour, two eggs, 210ml of milk, 90ml of water and a pinch of salt, until it has the consistency of cream.
Put a teaspoon of either butter and vegetable oil in a small, hot frying pan and spoon in the batter.
Leave for a few minutes before gently lifting up the edges of the pancake.
Make sure the entire pancake comes free from the pan before attempting to toss it.
