Moist Von Lipwig, aka Albert Spangler a con artist and fraudster, can choose between being hanged or taking charge of Ankh-Morpork's ailing near extinct postal service.
It's a tough decision. Can he revive the post offices fortunes and deliver the multitude of old correspondence?
With the assistance of toupee wearing Junior Postman Groat, Apprentice Postman Stanley (a pin collector), and Mr Pump, a Golem.
His main problem is to overcome his natural instinct to defraud the Post office and make money for himself.
Fans of Terry Pratchett shout hooray.
This book sees him back to form after a few books for children and lacklustre novels. Although it is not centred on any of his established characters (Death makes a very brief appearance, blink and you miss him), they are not missed and Moist will undoubtedly appear in future Pratchett stories.
For readers new to Terry Pratchett I would recommend this book as a good Discworld starting point as it stands alone - you do not need any Discworld background or history to enjoy it.
