Bretforton 1, Lansdowne 1

LANSDOWNE came out strongly and in the first 15 minutes and caused Bretforton problems at the back but Bobbie Handley, Blanche Surman, Sarah Cooke and Liz Murray-White held strong.

Handley made a number of crucial tackles, while Murray-White also caused problems for the Cheltenham side on the right with some great runs into their half.

However, ten minutes from the end of the first half, the local girls fell behind and trailed at half-time.

They settled better after the restart when they forced a breakthrough with Murray-White crossing the ball across the D to find Sarah Hall on the left-hand post who neatly flicked it into the goal.

Bretforton then picked their game up and it was Hall again playing well up front who was unlucky not to give her side the lead with a great shot from the edge of the D that struck a post.

Lansdowne also had their chances with keeper Fiona Baldelli seeing a shot cross her goal before striking a post.

Jane Wheeler also defended well at the short corners and made an excellent stop on the line to ensure both sides took a point apiece.

The match ball was sponsored by Cotswold Coving and Artexing.

Bretforton 5, Ilmington 0

SUNDAY saw Bretforton include numerous junior players alongside some experienced teammates and the mixture worked a treat in a comfortable win.

Emily Aston worked well with Sarah Bragg who put the hosts into the lead.

Luisa Petta and Chloe Foster also combined well and, when the ball was finally switched to the middle, Bragg doubled the lead.

After a shuffle around, Lucy Hoskin and Anna Walby stood strong at the back and the Cotswolds side's chances were kept to a minimum.

Aston made it 3-0 and then banged in two more to complete her hat-trick and complete a fine display from a Bretforton side who will face Evesham on Sunday.
