A PACK of Cub Scouts donned wellies and jackets to help renovate a dilapidated hedge.
The 9-12 year-olds from the 6th Worcester Kempsey troop, helped Worcester City Council Park Rangers repair the hedge, which has been damaged by rugby fans using a short cut onto Offerton Lane from Wainright Road, near Sixways rugby stadium.
The damaged hedge was threatening the habitat of protected wildlife on protected land it separates from a factory site.
"It's a problem that has steadily worsened since Worcester won promotion to the premier League," said Site Services manager for Southco, Dave Earp .
Southco's factory borders the protected land, and Mr Earp is also the pack's leader.
"I knew my Cub Scouts would respond to the challenge, but it also has an important spin-off for them, as the project will take them towards achieving their group award for the environment," he added.
The Cub Scouts planted £120 worth of hedge saplings to compliment a £750 fence put up at the same location.
Southco paid for both improvements.
Jenny Scott and Heather Bainbridge from the Rangers team oversaw the replanting.
