PARISH COUNCIL: The monthly meeting was held in King George's Hall. Cllr L Stowe chaired the meeting. Cllr Vic was co-opted onto the council and a letter of resignation from Cllr F Harrison was received.
There is still a concern of many overgrown hedges within the village. Matters have been made known to Gloucestershire County Council and their reply is sought. The clerk will chase matters up.
Road repairs have been carried out in Chapel Lane. Unfortunately, the single white lines had been omitted at the junction of Mill Bank and Chapel Lane. Highways will be informed. The Plantation has been re-kerbed and the pathway resurfaced, but already repairs to the stone walling, especially at the corners, are falling apart. The help of a person will be sought and maybe the corner stones could be cemented in as it is basically a dry stone wall.
The Christmas tree was erected and dismantled without too many problems but it was decided by councillors to make serious inquiries about the cost of instilling an electric socket on the Plantation.
The goalposts have been erected in the junior playing fields.
Because of two further accidents at Pages Corner, highways will again be asked for a larger road sign - denoting a corner, and chevrons.
Cedar Road requires attention and is said to be on schedule for repairs.
The bus shelter by the Three Ways wall is in need of attention. Local advice will be sought for minimal roofing repairs.
The churchyard has been inspected by a councillor and those slabs in need of attention have been laid down, and it was thought that some minor repairs could be done locally.
An oak tree on land at Ninevah cannot be felled. It has a preservation order on it but its height and span can be reduced and a Norwegian spruce at Medford House causing problems to April House can be attended to.
A letter was received from a parishioner in Gloucester Lane concerning stones on the grass verge, causing problems to motorists and pedestrians. The letter will be passed on to the highways department as the writer requested the lane either becomes a one-way road or for access only.
Next meeting is at 7.30pm on February 23.
