THE first class coaching credentials and hard work of Wyre Forest Gymnastics School have been rewarded with a prestigious award.

Chief coach Ann Combes received the Gym Mark plaque on behalf of the club at the Wyre Forest District Sports Awards last week.

Jane Edwards, a West Midlands representative for British Gymnastics, was on hand to present her with the accolade.

Wyre Forest Gymnastic School have been working towards the award for three years and are one of only three clubs in the West Midlands to achieve it.

The school was set up by Combes 19 years ago with the assistance of Wyre Forest District Council and has grown from 10 gymnasts to over 300.

It has a coaching staff of 19 fully qualified club and 15 assistant coaches and 30 trainees.

They are now looking forward to continue increasing their membership and coaching staff and finding their own premises.

Anyone interested in taking up the sport can call Combes on 01299403318 or 07801338292.
