THE weekday ban on vehicles loading and unloading in Worcester city centre's pedestrianised areas is to be extended to Sundays following more complaints.
The new traffic orders, covering Angel Place, part of Angel Street, Bank Street, Broad Street, Church Street, part of Copenhagen Street, Friar Street, High Street, Mealcheapen Street, Pump Street and The Shambles follow consultation with police, Road Haulage Association and Freight Transport Association.
Exemption
A Sunday ban, on vehicles driving through the areas between 10.30am and 4.30pm as well as a lifting of an exemption that presently allows special treatment for bullion vehicles, is to be introduced from this Friday.
The changes, which will be for an initial six-month trial, are being introduced as a result of changes in Sunday trading patterns.
Warning notices are to be posted. There will also be an increased presence of parking attendants during the scheme's first week of operation.
