TWO youths beat a 16-year-old boy unconscious as they stole his mobile phone.
The victim and two friends were walking home from Kidderminster railway station just before 11pm on Saturday.
As they walked along Comberton Road, they saw one of the youths arguing with a girl at the junction with Eastwood Drive.
The boys continued along Comberton Road towards Borrington Road, where they were approached by the youths.
One said his girlfriend had collapsed and they asked if they could borrow the boy's mobile phone to call an ambulance. Although he could not see the girl, he was willing to help.
Before he could do anything, however, the youths began searching his pockets and took his phone. He was then beaten and lost consciousness.
He was taken first to Kidderminster Hospital and later transferred to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
He was discharged after treatment for injuries including a black eye and split lip.
Det Con Stephen Dyer said: "This was a nasty assault and we would like to speak to anyone who lives nearby or was driving past and saw anything.
"We would especially like to trace the girl, who is described as being in her mid-teens with long hair."
The youths were both white. The one arguing with the girl was about 16, around 5ft 7ins, of slender build and wearing a dark blue hooded top and blue tracksuit bottoms and chunky trainers, possibly Adidas.
The second was about 17, of average build, with light brown mousey hair and wearing a beige top.
