Droitwich Spa 2, Littleton 0

LITTLETON'S topsy-turvy season continued when they were knocked out at the semi-final stage of the Worcestershire Junior Cup.

Saturday's defeat followed an excellent win in midweek when they travelled to Tipton and returned home with a 2-1 success.

However, on a heavy and bumpy pitch, Littleton's normal passing game was disrupted and this, allied to the tenacious tackling by a spirited Droitwich side, meant that it took them a long time to get going.

An over fussy referee didn't help as he dished out 13 yellow cards in a game where there wasn't a bad foul!

Droitwich took the lead on 35 minutes when Adrian Pritchard made a fine save but the ball rebounded to Richard Maguire who drove home in fine style.

The same player was on hand seven minutes later to repeat the effort after the ball came to him off the crossbar.

Littleton threw men forward in the second half and, in one purple patch of 15 minutes, created at least five chances but a combination of good goalkeeping and wayward shooting kept the home goal intact.

It wasn't all gloom, however, in the Littleton camp as the reserve team made it into the final of the Minor Cup after a 3-1 win at Kempsey where Tom Heath was the hero with a hat-trick.

Littleton are at home on Saturday (2.45) to Wilmcote in Division One of the Midland Combination.
