It is not often that one hears such a direct conflict of evidence as was heard in a case at Evesham County Court on Saturday/ A travelling draper sued a labourer for goods supplied, and stated that he received the order from the defendant, and personally delivered the goods to him. Moreover, he said that in his own house he measured him for a pair of trousers. The defendant, on the other hand, swore he never ordered anything from the plaintiff and that he had never seen him before. There was no corroboration on either side and his Honour entered a non-suit without costs.

Thursday last week was the annual New Year's treat to the inmates of the Pershore Poor Law Institution. The means for providing this treat has always been readily forthcoming. The inmates now at Pershore are considerably over one hundred and, in addition, Miss Bowkett, the foster mother at the Cottage Homes, arrived with her large family of boys and girls. The bright decoration of Yuletide were retained and augmented, the Board Room, where the major portion of the proceedings took place, wearing especially the appearance of gaiety and cheerfulness.

Mr. Tim Robbins, president of Evesham Motor Cycle Club and formerly a motor cycle trials rider of distinction, thinks that every motor cyclist should wear a crash helmet and, agreeing with him, the club has done its best to make the crash helmet part of the motor cyclists' essential gear. Speaking at the annual dinner and dance of the club, held at the Crown Hotel, Evesham, last Friday, Mr Robbins said he had been told only one in five of the motor cyclists in this country wear crash helmets. "We in the Evesham club are doing much better than that, nearly all our members wear them," he said.

Work started this week on a £2.7m expansion plan at an Evesham factory, which will provide an extra 150 jobs. It is being carried out at the eight-acre site of T. W. beach and Son Ltd. and follows a decision to run down the company's Hereford plant and concentrate production at Evesham. The expansion has been made possible by the evacuation from the site of Richmond Sausage Co. now re-established at Four Pools, and John Huggan and Son Ltd. now trading as E. M. P. Ltd on the Worcester Road. The first stage of the new project is the demolition of the old Huggan warehouse to make room for a new soft drinks factory
