IN answer to John Cotterell's letter in the January 20 issue, I fully agree that a public meeting is required to decide the future of the town hall in Kidderminster.
However, while they are at it, why not hold another to discuss the fate of the Civic Hall in Stourport?
Then the council could answer the question as to why a "purpose-built facility" is being allowed to slip quietly into abandonment and neglect? And why it is that the council charges so much to hire out such a decaying building?
Is it perhaps that they wish its use to cease, thereby giving them an easy excuse to demolish it and build houses on the site?
Why not spend money on renovating it and have two quality performance halls instead of one and, therefore, justify the cost of hiring out the building?
If the Civic Centre was to close then what would happen to the operatic societies, the wonderful Monday Night Group's pantomime, and other groups who struggle to afford to use this facility and could not use anywhere else, such as the town hall or the Rose Theatre?
Wyre Forest District Council, I am begging you, let us know now what you intend.
