Evesham Utd Robins U-13 1, Norton Athletic 2
THE visit of league leaders Athletic inspired Robins to produce one of their best performances of the season and only a late goal prevented the home side from taking a deserved point.
Early exchanges were even but and neither goal keeper had been called into any serious action until James Martin threaded an inch-perfect pass through to Jake Nightingale who made no mistake from 15 yards.
However, An innocuous challenge on the edge of United penalty area was penalised and the resultant free-kick found the net.
As the game seemed to be heading for parity a harmless cross eluded the home defence and they paid the ultimate price as Norton found the net for a second time.
Searching for the equaliser, the Robins became stretched at the back but, two fine saves from player of the match Andrew Taylor kept Evesham in a match that they were unlucky not to level.
