Old Halesonians 35pts, Evesham 12

EVESHAM'S recent disastrous run of form continued on Saturday when, with numerous injuries to key backs, they were yet again forced to reshuffle their ranks.

However, they started well with the pack out to prove a point with Dave Scott and Chris Maritza in the thick of the action.

The home backs, though, always looked strong and scored a couple of excellent early tries.

Evesham then settled and played some good rugby with scrum-half Gary Diston, as always, bossing his pack well.

The visitors were finally rewarded with a brilliant individual try from No 8 Lloyd Jiles but that was answered instantly and Halesonians quickly added another to go into half-time with a comfortable cushion.

The second half started well for the Avonsiders as they forced their opponents on to the back foot. However, Evesham were unable to put away the final chance and reduce the arrears.

Unfortunately, OHs broke twice to score two good team tries before Evesham finished the game strongly and dominant hooker Luke Matthews was driven over for a deserved try. Tim Carsberg converted.

Evesham are in friendly action this weekend when they play host to Birmingham Exiles.
