Evesham 2, Warwick 1
EVESHAM returned to winning ways with a patient, well constructed victory against stubborn opponents.
Stuart Bearcroft produced an outstanding performance to score the first goal and dominate most of the home side's attacks in a match almost totally dominated by an on song home side.
Yet, despite controlling the game and creating opportunities outside the Warwick area, there was a lack of penetration close to goal.
the first half, for all the good work from Jamie Dodgson and the midfield, the end result was only one short corner and a few half chances put wide by Chris Perry.
In the second half, Evesham lost their shape early on as the game became compressed and a series of poor passes allowed the Warwick side to engage in some counter attacks.
Most were easily dealt with by James Tickle and Neil Sollis but a scramble in the goal area after 15 minutes allowed Warwick a short corner from which James Nicholas was given no chance.
Bearcroft now began to show more invention and an early through ball from Baumber allowed him to round the keeper with ease to equalise with ten minutes left on the watch.
Despite the slowing tactics of the visitors, Evesham kept on until the end and, in the dying minutes, Mark Brown showed patience and skill to win a short corner from which Baumber converted.
Warwick had a late chance with virtually the last strike of the game to remind Evesham that they couldn't afford to lose concentration, but a well-deserved victory for the home side was the end result.
The winners travel to unbeaten Wednesbury this weekend when they will be seeking revenge for an 1-0 defeat earlier in the season.
