Evesham and District Association

REIGNING joint division one champions Wyre Elite look to be in pole position to retain the title after avoiding defeat against their two nearest rivals Bengeworth Tigers and Littleton Aces.

Matt Hartwell scored a maximum against the Tigers but Stuart Greene and Grahame Brown both beat Chris Good-erham and Darrel Wiltshire.

Gary Jackson also overcame Gooderham to put the Tigers 5-4 ahead but Hartwell and Wiltshire defeated Brown and Greene in the doubles to secure the draw.

Hartwell was also unbeaten when the Elite visited Littleton but Luke Moffat, Mark Dudley and Andrew Taylor all overcame Keith Ferguson to keep the Aces in touch.

Again the result of the match was decided by the doubles with Hartwell and Wiltshire beating Moffat and Taylor to give the Elite a 6-4 victory and extend their unbeaten run to 11 games.

Adrift

The Aces are four points adrift of the leaders and recorded three good wins. Mark Dudley beat Doug Payne 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 11-7 to help them to a 6-4 victory over Evesham Rowing Club.

Lynda Reid and Doug Allan both won two singles each for Bengeworth Purple but Ken Baker and Andrew Taylor defeated Reid and Aileen Berry in the doubles to give the Aces a 6-4 victory.

Luke Moffat beat Geoff Woodward and remained unbeaten on the night to help the Aces to a 7-3 victory over Wyre Livewyres.

Basement side Kington Bull-dogs have numerous games in hand and edged closer to the teams above them with an 8-2 victory over Littleton Borg.

The Borg bounced back to beat Wyre Livewyres 7-3. Ray Griffiths played up from Division Two for the losers and overcame Mark Virgo but Virgo beat Rob Addis.

Paul Witts was unbeaten including a victory over Mal-colm Macfarlane.

Craig Norledge and Richard Bishop both scored maximums for Bengeworth Blue as they beat the Borg 8-2.

John Mytton beat Lynda Reid 11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 11-4 for the Blue but they went down 8-2 to clubmates Purple.

Geoff Collings got the better of Geoff Woodward 11-8, 12-10, 4-11, 13-11 but that was the only victory for Benge-worth Red as they went down 9-1 to Wyre Livewyre.

A 6-4 victory for Bengeworth Tigers over clubmates Purple gives them an outside chance of closing on the league leaders if they win their games in hand.
