Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the Friends of Welland's ferret race night at Welland Village Hall at 7.30pm. All the fun of a race night with the added advantage of actual furry creatures competing and you will see their progress.
There is no fix - the actual races witnessed on the night haven't been run before (as they have with other televised race nights) and you will be subscribing to a great cause, road calming measures in our village.
Cash raised from the raffle will be donated, in its entirety, to the Tsunami Relief Appeal. A ticket for the evening's entertainment costs a mere £5 and includes a cold supper - children under-13 come in free when accompanied by their parents/responsible adult. Bring your own booze/tea/coffee and glasses/cups to drink out of! Water can be provided free of charge.
The Cordery Club is hosting a talk by the Reverend C Moss entitled My Mother's poems on February 17 at Welland Village Hall at 2.30pm. March 3 sees an event to be arranged (details will be supplied at a later date). March 17 sees an outing to a garden centre together with lunch and April 7 sees the Easter tea. New members and visitors always welcome.
