A PLAYGROUP celebrating an impressive Ofsted report has relaunched itself with a snazzy, modern image.
St Stephen's Pre-School Playgroup has changed its name to Sticky Fingers @ St Stephen's Pre-School Playgroup, to lift its profile and move it into the 21st Century.
As part of the relaunch the pre-school, based at Bishop Allenby Hall, on Droitwich Road, put up banners and balloons and has even introduced new sweatshirts for its uniform.
The move comes after Ofsted inspectors rated all aspects of teaching and learning either "very good" or "good", and praised the welcoming atmosphere at the Worcester nursery.
"The Ofsted report is a very satisfying end to a busy and industrious year for all concerned," said playgroup leader Chris Hillary.
"I would like to congratulate everybody for the marvellous steps taken."
The pre-school was established in 1968 and has since increased in size. It now caters for about 40 two-and-a-half to four-year-old children.
Although it is run as a charity, St Stephen's has fully qualified paid staff and is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
"We decided to change our name to give us a more modern image," said Claire Wilkes, who is on the committee for the playgroup.
"Hopefully the relaunch will raise our profile as a professional childcare facility, and let people know we are here."
The Ofsted report, which was carried out last summer but only recently published, praised the general care youngsters receive.
"Sticky Fingers @ St Stephen's Pre-School Playgroup provides good care for children," it said. "Staff create a welcoming environment for children and their families.
"They actively promote children's health and well-being. Children are settled and busy. They have a warm rapport with adults who know the individual needs and interests well."
Ofsted's next visit is due in three or four years.
