A MAN was hit by a train at a railway crossing in Malvern.
The accident took place at around 6.50pm on Monday (January 31), at a crossing off Jamaica Road.
British Transport Police were called to the scene by the driver of the 6.40pm Great Malvern to Dorridge train.
The man was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Central Trains spokesman Gerard Burgess said passengers were kept on the train while the track was cleared.
The line was closed while forensic tests were carried out.
"The train was being driven correctly and was in the place it should have been," said Mr Burgess.
"Unfortunately, a lot of our drivers will have to deal with incidents like this at some point in their career."
The safety of the crossing has been the focus of concern from councillors and nearby residents for some years, following two deaths at the scene.
Frank Sheldon, 67, was killed there in 1988, while 70-year-old Lily Tandy died after being hit by a train nine months later. Dave Boycott, 73, was killed on a similar crossing further up the track in 2001, while trying to rescue his wife's dog.
