The owners of an organic nursery in Colwall are planning to branch out.
Will Leaper and Bridget Evans, of Caves Folly Nurseries, want to share their expertise by creating an educational and alternative therapy centre.
They have applied for planning permission to demolish the existing wooden shop and office, to make way for the new building.
Established in 1979, the nursery was one of the first in the country to gain certification from the Soil Association for environmentally friendly growing methods.
"We've been a pioneer in the organic sector for a number of years," said Mr Leaper.
"Being organic is a way of life for us, we believe it's better for people and better for the environment."
Mr Leaper said they wanted to expand the business to allow schools and local groups to learn more about organic gardening.
"The facilities could also be used by alternative medicine practitioners, tying in with the organic ethos here," he said.
"We'd include a small conference room and a treatment room."
The couple also plan to create a holiday chalet suitable for disabled visitors.
"The accommodation would be a log cabin because we wanted to use renewable resources," said Mr Leaper.
"The whole project is a way to diversify and to ensure a long-term future."
The planning application will be considered in due course by Herefordshire Council.
