PERSHORE Rugby Club were disappointed with their display, despite a comfortable 30-6 win at county rivals Droitwich in Midlands Three West (South).

Against bottom-of-the-table opposition, the second-placed side lacked the energy and drive that they had shown previously.

But Droitwich played out of their skins and the driving rain throughout the game did not help Pershore's cause.

The first 20 minutes was not a great advert for the game as both sides made basic mistakes but, fortunately for Pershore, they found their rhythm first.

A blind-side break by Sid Hirons from a scrum released Steve Holmes who sped down the wing and passed for the ever-eager Jem Richardson to touch down.

Robin Haines converted and kicked a penalty to increase the lead.

Haines added another penalty but Droitwich replied with two of their own to reduce Pershore's lead to 13-6 before half-time.

The second-half saw Pershore stamp forward superiority on the game, using the driving maul and quick ruck ball to good effect.

The pressure told and from a line-out Richardson pounced on a loose ball and doubled his tally.

Haines again converted and increased his points tally with another penalty.

With the clock ticking down, a clever back-row move created space for Richardson who cut inside two defenders.

He popped a pass to man-of-the-match Marcus Whyte who crashed over and Haines converted.
