A GRANDMOTHER who lost more than five stones in weight last year has stepped up her exercise routine by walking 16 miles with a friend for charity.
Judy Tonks was featured in the Evening News in December after she shed the weight so she could fly to Disney Land, Florida, for a once-in-a-lifetime trip with her sick grandson.
She has since kept up her routine and walks four miles a day but decided, along with her friend Helen Fisher, aged 35, to push herself to raise money for victims of the tsunami.
The pair started out at 9.30am on Saturday at Worcester Bridge, on New Road, and walked to Malvern Theatres and back.
"I walk each day anyway but we were desperate to help," said 50-year-old Mrs Tonks.
"It is a lovely way to spend a Saturday and we managed to get quite a lot of sponsorship."
The pair, both from Claines, in Worcester, raised between £100 and £200 sponsorship before the trip, which took around four hours.
Mrs Tonks plans to travel to India later this year to help out in a health clinic.
