IT has been a very disappointing week for us to say the least after losing our first Nationwide North game at Ashton United and then last night's defeat to Worksop Town -- it's a double whammy for us.

Only a week ago against Kettering we produced some outstanding football. It just shows you how quickly it can all disappear, it's like sand slipping through your fingers.

We huffed and puffed against Ashton and there was no real conviction and purpose in our play. We could have played all afternoon and we would not have scored.

If you want to look at the reason why we lost last night's game against Worksop, you don't need to go much further than the two penalty box. We just weren't good enough in either their box or ours.

We got punished exactly as we did on Saturday. They went a goal up with a free header inside the box and that has happened a lot this season. We then conceeded a poor second goal later in the first-half.

Last night we had three or four good chances in the first-half. I thought we could have gone in front because they were good opportunities. Adam Webster had a chance when Jai Stanley put him through and Webby later had a few headed chances. But we failed to convert any of them and goals ultimately change the course of the game.

We let them off the hook and that only encouraged Worksop in our box. We shot ourselves in the foot conceding the two goals and the manner they were conceded only compounds the agony.

Confidence disappears very quickly. It takes ages to build and drains all too quickly after just one defeat.

That was our last mid-week league fixture for some time and I'm glad because it has been a very demanding start to the season. I would like to have given several players a rest.

We had an extra 24 hours for last night's game because traditionally we play our home mid-week game on Monday nights. From a football point of view, Tuesday is the best night for us.

Obviously, it didn't work out for us last night but playing a day later gives us the chance to give players a well-earned rest.

Our options on the pitch have been taken away because we have six good players out injured. Leon Kelly was out yesterday after hurting his back at work. It's impossible to cover for them all.

I try to use the kids as sparingly as possible. It's alright picking them to go on but you have to show a lot of care when you introduce them. It is a big step up for them from college football.

There's another tough game to get our teeth into at Harrogate this Saturday and it could be Aaron Kerr's last game for us. He has done well with a number of good performances. He's a very good goalkeeper and we wish him all the best for the future.
