TWO games in the space of three days is always tough but I was pleased with the performances that has seen us take four points against Lancaster and Kettering in Nationwide North.
We will look to keep our run going on Saturday when we head to Ashton United and it promises to be another tough fixture.
The quality of the football against Lancaster was more than pleasing. We started brightly and despite conceeding before half-time, we picked it up again with two quality team goals.
That match was followed by a tremendous game of football against Kettering with really good stuff played by both sides. It was as good a game as we've had at St George's Lane for many seasons.
Kettering are by far and away the best side we've played. They are a pacey, well structured side and they caused us a lot of problems.
We had two good pockets of play in the game but we were not as consistent as we were against Lancaster. After a sluggish start, we surrended the initiative whereas I felt we gained that on Saturday. We had a good spell in the first half, passed it well, and created two or three good chances that we could have put away. But then upto half-time we were glad to get in at 0-0.
We are disappointed with the two goals we conceeded because they were both from re-start situations. We can argue all we like about the free-kick but the ball has come in and the lad's got a header in for Kettering's second.
On the plus side, we showed some character to come back after the goal we conceeded straight after half-time. It was a tremendous finish from their striker and it knocked us back a bit.
We had to try and find a way of getting back on the ball as much as possible. We pushed Pat Lyons inside and put Liam McDonald on the outside and it worked well. We managed to get the ball to Leon Kelly's feet at the edge of the box instead of having him going wide.
I thought Pat was our best player. He showed tremendous appetite when he got on the ball.
Aaron Kerr was also terrific and made a number of great saves.
Paul Carty played really well against Lancaster and I have been impressed with the work he has done in central midfield.
It's an unfamiliar position for him but he has helped us through a number of times. We are mindful that he's no longer a youngster so we'll have to look after him in the right way.
