IT'S always great to win games but there are degrees of satisfaction depending on who the opposition is.
No-one will be that surprised then to learn that I felt absolutely brilliant after our 5-1 defeat of Dover Athletic.
There's a little bit of history between the clubs which gave an added edge to the occasion and made the result even more satisfying.
I have to admit that before the game I was more concerned about this encounter than any other since we played them in January.
Often, runs start and end with the same team and Dover demonstrated in the first half-hour they've the ability to be a good side.
They've also got a certain physical presence and we needed to match them. On Saturday we did that and in doing so showed some real battling qualities.
Going 1-0 down and getting physically intimidated was a test but we stood up to it.
Then when we were aggrieved about the penalty, Danny McDonnell went and pulled off a fantastic save. Everything went right.
What pleased me was that Dover tried to knock us out of our stride with various tactics, some not so savoury, but we got up and rolled them over.
It was another important step and continues the revival we've enjoyed since Christmas.
I'm pleased for everybody concerned with the club, supporters as well.
In the process we've played some good stuff too. Earlier in the season people were critical about us not scoring enough goals and the style of football but I don't think any of those charges can be laid against us now.
What we've got now, we've worked hard to achieve, and the success we're enjoying now has not surprised me.
It's been a season of ups and downs but now we've added consistency to our game to accompany the real strength in depth that we have.
Adam Webster has had to wait patiently but seized his chance in the best possible fashion with a hat-trick on his return.
Up front is Adam's best position but he helped us out in midfield around Christmas and that was typical of him. He puts the team and the club before himself.
He did a good job for us in midfield but while doing that Mark and Leon came together and did really well and as a result Adam has had to wait for his chance to get back into his preferred position.
Now he's got to make the most of it.
On Saturday we had some great support and it's good to see everyone getting behind the team. It makes a big difference.
During our poor run of results before Christmas, we got heavily criticised in some quarters, and the criticism hurt.
But I felt for the players, two in particular, who were on the end of some particularly nasty comments.
At Worcester if you win you're a hero but if you lose there can be some vicious comments and abuse aimed at the players which there's no room for.
We've got some terrific fans but this season there have been one or two that have overstepped the mark in terms of the comments dished out.
People always say that's part and parcel of football and comes with the territory but I don't agree. Not when it gets as nasty as that.
As I've said on many occasions, we've got a solid bunch of honest players who want to do well for the club and they don't deserve to take personal flak just because they lose or don't play well.
