ONE thing is for sure, Moor Green will not be an easy game for us to restart our league campaign.

Bob Faulkner's side may have endured a rough start to the season but I never thought they were as bad as their early season form suggested and their latest victory at Eastbourne Borough at the weekend has hauled them further away from the relegation zone.

I've always believed they've had enough experience to get themselves out of trouble and slowly but surely they are doing that though they are playing catch up a bit which means they can't afford any slip-ups.

Matches between Worcester and Moor Green always generate a fair bit of intense rivalry and I expect even more spice to the encounter on Boxing Day.

Whether it's because the crowd will be bigger I don't know but the match will have an added edge though perhaps not as great as if Jai Stanley had been playing.

It was a blow losing Jai but he's had his surgery now and can start the process of rehabilitation and we can look forward to him pulling on a City shirt in the not too distant future.

The festive programme normally leaves you gasping for air with games coming thick and fast but Boxing Day's trip to the Moorlands can't come quick enough after consecutive postponements.

Frustrating

It's been a frustrating period seeing both the Crawley Town and Welling United matches called off, but there's little we can do about the weather.

If we had been playing clubs that had not been travelling so far we might have been able to hold off making a decision until later but with Crawley and Welling setting off so early we had to consider them.

Hopefully Moor Green on Boxing Day and Stafford Rangers on New Year's Day will be okay because we are all champing at the bit to get going again after this enforced delay.

Looking on the positive side the fact the games have been called off means the likes of Allan Davies (ankle), Jon Holloway (groin) and Barry Woolley (hip) have all been given extra time to recover from injuries.

But we'll only know if the break has been beneficial when the final whistle goes on Boxing Day.

One aspect of the postponements is that our midweek dates are rapidly filling up with rearranged games including ones with teams involved in the FA Trophy.

I would sooner play matches on the dates given because it's an opportunity to keep up to speed with the fixtures but we are well served by club secretary Steve Bond who gets them rearranged as quickly as he can.

Turning to the New Year I think in the league it is still all to play for - that's the message I will be sending out.

There's been no real significant pattern to the season to date other than Nuneaton flying out of the traps at the start and Weymouth picking up the mantle.

Apart from that it's been very close and form seems to count for little on the day with everyone capable of beating each other as we've discovered to our cost.
