SUNDAY'S Harkaway Club point-to-point meeting at Chaddesley Corbett near Bromsgrove has attracted a bumper entry of 307 horses (11.30am start).
With so much interest organisers have divided the Restricted, the 5-6-7 year-old Maiden and 8-year-old and upwards Maiden, so racegoers are assured of getting value for money, with at least ten races.
Caught at Dawn, who runs in the Men's Open, won seven races last year, including the prestigious Lady Dudley Cup over this course, and the Hindlip-based owner/trainer Martin Weston is keen to get at least one run into the 11-year-old prior to his appearance at the Cheltenham Festival.
Tenbury Wells trainer Nick Shutts was pleased with Foly Pleasant's win at Weston Park, but the horse needs to win another open to qualify for Cheltenham and he could get that in this race. Shropshire rider Richard Burton and Quality First finished runner up to Foly Pleasant two weeks ago but Burton has alternatives in Hot Toddy or Minella Silver.
Snowtre from Helen Needham's Kidderminster yard will benefit from his recent run, but will struggle in this company, while Step on Eyre, Clonshire Paddy, Just Cliquot, Katarino and Longville Lad cannot be left out of calculations.
Himbleton resident and owner Pat Tollitt,who has enjoyed numerous success over this course, is putting faith in Do It Once, but faces stiff competition from strong runners like Campden Kitty, Lava and Pacon.
