NEIGHBOURLY tension is the subject of classic comedy Party Piece at Malvern's Festival Theatre from Monday.
Written by multi-award winner Richard Harris, who was responsible for The Darling Buds of May and Outside Edge, the comedy stars one of Britain's favourite actors, George Cole, as the "curmudgeonly, scheming and hilariously cantankerous" neighbour, Mr Hinson.
The play is set on a summer afternoon in the gardens of two terraced Victorian houses.
A spokesman explains: "Tensions rise on both sides of the garden fence as an upwardly mobile couple holds a barbecue to celebrate the completion of their expensive renovations, while their elderly neighbour proudly protects his decidedly down-at-heel surroundings."
Better known to millions as Arthur Daley in TV's long running series Minder, George has enjoyed a stage and screen career spanning fifty years.
Also appearing will be Peter Amory, famous as Christopher Tate in Emmerdale, Tracey Childs, who starred in Born and Bred, Matthew Cottle, Flinty Williams, Harry Gostelow and Katy Landis.
Party Piece runs from Monday until Saturday, February 19, with evening performances at 8pm and Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.
Tickets, priced £16-£24, are available from the box office on 01684 892277 or online at:
