Littleton 5, Wilmcote 3
ON AN EXTREMELY wet afternoon Littleton scored five goals in the second half to turn round a half-time deficit.
The hosts opened strongly and went close after three minutes when Ben Green-wood pulled the ball back to Jon Gregory whose shot was hacked off the line.
Paul Jones then hit a post following a cross by Danny Malins but it was Wilmcote who took the lead on the half-hour when a cross shot from Danny Adams went in off the inside of an upright.
Worse followed on the stroke of half-time when the visitors were awarded a penalty and Rob Mitchell converted.
Full and frank discussions at half-time seemed to galvanise Littleton as they fought to get back into the game and it obviously worked as they reduced the arrears after 53 minutes when Matthew Cotton headed home powerfully from a corner by Perry Beddoes.
Four minutes later it was 2-2 when a long-range shot from Mark Gledhill gathered speed off the wet surface and fizzed past a startled Adam Trainer in the Wilmcote goal.
It was all Littleton now and it came as no surprise when they scored again with Greenwood twisting and turning in the box before driving in from 16 yards.
Five minutes later it was 4-2 following a left wing centre from Gledhill that Steve Brown leapt highest to meet and head into the net.
Ten minutes from time, Littleton completed their nap hand when Jones headed in another flag-kick from Beddoes.
The visitors ended the scoring when Adams netted his second in injury-time.
The game was sponsored by Howdens Joinery Co.
Littleton visit Cadbury Athletic on Saturday (2.45).
