BROMSGROVE ROVERS have made a double swoop to bolster their midfield.

Manager Jimmy Mullen is set to talk to Bedworth United attacker Scott Hadland and Stratford's James Beauchamp today (Wednesday).

This is despite Rovers bringing in 19-year-old Nathan Jameson on a month's loan from Championship Division One side Walsall last week.

After bolstering defence and up front in recent weeks Mullen has targeted spicing up the middle of the pitch.

Mullen said: "The midfield is an important area and I do think we need to add a bit more depth to it.

"Midfielders are a bit thin on the ground at the moment."

If signed Beauchamp would have to compete with Ryan Mahon and Riad Erraji for the central midfield position.

Under Mullen's regime Erraji's probing passing has won out over the more combative player so far.

Hadland, who was on the books with Leicester City when younger, adds an attacking option from midfield.

Mullen believes the return of first choice goalkeeper Matt Lowe from his three match suspension could provide a major boost to the team.

Rovers have only won once this season when their reliable shot-stopper has been out - against Burnham.

Even then replacement Ian Gandy made several mistakes that would no doubt had Mullen's heart in his mouth.

The manager said: "We've lost games when Matt has been out.

"I'm not blaming anyone for it, but any team is going to miss someone of his quality."

Rovers also brought in goalkeeper Adam Jenkins after young reserve custodian Shaun Hayes left for Stratford.

Hayes was building a reputation as the future number one at Bromsgrove with a string of impressive performances for the second team.

However, after speaking to Mullen the goalkeeper felt he should move on.

Mullen said: "Shaun wanted first team football and I couldn't give him that right now.

"He's not going to replace Matt at the moment and he wanted a chance somewhere else."

Rovers' injury worries, which had damaged their promotion campaign in the Southern League Division One West, are improving.

Delton Francis is expected to play some part in Saturday's home game against basement side Egham Town (3pm kick off).

The Rovers boss is also optimistic first choice striker Leon Mitchell could make the substitute's bench.

He said: "I'm hoping Leon is fit enough to play some part as we've really missed him.

"We've struggled for goals since he's been out so it'll be good to have him back."

Hitman Ravi Sangha, who has only played 13 minutes since joining from Evesham, is out indefinitely with a knee injury.

Danny Lennon also returned last week after quitting Stratford.

Lennon spoke to chairman Tom Herbert after January 29's loss to Evesham about returning to the club he quit in October.

Rovers' home game against Sutton Coldfield on March 26 has been moved to a 12.30pm kick off.
