Northfield Town 3 Fairfield Villa 0
VILLA had their wings clipped by an improving Northfield side in Birmingham on Saturday.
Two second half goals finished off Fairfield, who wasted a host of chances to win the Midland Combination Division One clash.
Chairman Paddy Eades blamed a lack of firepower for his side's inability to move up the table.
He said: "We just can't score - it's as simple as that.
"We are capable of getting the ball into the box but there's no one who can put it away regularly enough for us.
"The pitch was very boggy on Saturday, but Northfield were sharper and took their chances."
Despite Saturday's set back, which saw Villa slip to 12th in the table, the chairman is confident his side can finish in the top half.
He said: "We're not that faraway from where we want to be and up until to a few weeks ago we seemed on track to finish in the table's top-half.
"If we can string a few results together then there's no reason why we can't move up."
Villa face another test of their pedigree when they take on title chasing Polesworth North Warwick at home on Saturday (2.45pm kick off).
While Villa have slipped into the table's lower reaches Saturday's opponents are hard on the heels of the top two.
Eades said: "It's another big game for us."
