Droitwich 6, Pershore 30pts

ALTHOUGH this was a comfortable win Pershore will have been disappointed with their performance.

They lacked the energy and drive that they had shown previously but, having said that, Droitwich played out of their skins and the driving rain throughout was a great leveller.

The first 20 minutes wasn't a great advert for the game with both sides making basic mistakes and lacking continuity. Fortunately for Pershore they found their rhythm first.

A blindside break by Sid Hirons released Steve Holmes who sped down the wing, and, with a simple two on one with the full back, passed inside to the ever-eager Jem Richardson who touched down. Robin Haines converted.

A penalty from Haines soon after increased the lead that was immediately doubled after another infringement. Droitwich replied with two penalty successes of their own to reduce Pershore's lead before half-time.

The second half saw Pershore stamp some forward superiority on the game and they began to use the driving maul and quick ruck ball to good effect.

This pressure told and, from a line-out, Richardson pounced on a loose ball and doubled his try tally. Haines again converted and then increased his points tally with another penalty.

With the clock ticking down, a clever back row move created space for Richardson, who cut inside two defenders and, when tackled just short of the line, popped a pass to man of the match Marcus Whyte who crashed over.

Haines again converted to finish off the scoring.
