Malvern III 0, Evesham II 65pts
EVESHAM found themselves in the pool looking for a game on Saturday when Birmingham Exiles cried off at the eleventh hour.
The Avonsiders plumped for a second away game of the season against Malvern's third string and, looking to extend their unbeaten run, the visitors went about the task well compared to their unorganised hosts, who tried to start the game with 16 players on the field!
It didn't take long for Eve-sham to stamp their authority on the game, with captain Mo Par-kinson exploiting the gaps to bag a brace of tries.
With the visiting forward so dominant in the tight and loose play, tries were scored at regular intervals.
Ex-Malvern player Phil Ham-mond rubbed salt into the wounds of his old teammates by scoring two first half tries. Jules Walker, Simon Hodges and Tim Carsberg also took advantage of generous Malvern defending.
Turning around to play up the slope, Evesham were never going to lose the game but, to their credit, Malvern looked like a different team as they played with much more passion and pride.
Occasionally, though, with too much "passion" as their fly-half was lucky just to be shown a yellow card after an ugly stamping incident on second row Tim Webb.
This just spurred Evesham on to record one of their best results of the season.
Four more tries were scored through Tom Ferguson, Dave Howarth, Tim Carsberg and Hammond, completed his hat-trick. Carsberg added three conversion and Mike O' Loughlin landed a couple.
The second teamers will be hoping to drink to another Merit Table victory on Saturday when they take a bus ride to Hereford.
The club's first team were left kicking their heels when Chad-desley Corbett cried off the scheduled fixture. They will be hoping to return to winning ways on Saturday when Here-ford are the visitors for a 2.15pm start.
