Evesham 0, Camp Hill 37

TOM Singleton-Wells was the home team's captain last Sunday when the visitors proved too strong for gallant Evesham.

Camp Hill scored in the fourth minute but the hosts fought hard against a team of larger players and made some attacking thrusts that came to nothing.

When the visitors attacked they found their way to the line on three occasions and, despite excellent defending by Mike Diston and Sam Hopkins, they took a 17-0 interval lead.

Evesham made some changes for the second half with Scott Roberts replacing Mike Ibbot-son at second row, Tom Zube replacing Singleton-Wells on the left wing and Scott Walker replacing Louis Willets on the opposite flank.

Evesham went on the attack from the kick-off thanks to some impressive driving from Anthony Watts, Josh Greatrix and Scott Roberts.

They attacked and defended well but Camp Hill were still the stronger side.

Ibbotson was back in the fray to replace Russell Boyles, while notable performances by Jon and Ben Farrar, Mike Gander and player of the match Luca Grillo helped keep the Camp Hill team at bay but they succumbed to two quick tries in succession and a 27-point deficit.

Once again Evesham regro-uped and attacked with enthusiasm. They pushed forward and made good ground with several successive phases of play only to be pushed back and concede a further two tries before the final whistle.

The youngsters are in action again on February 20 when they travel to Stow-on-the-Wold.
