VILLAGERS in Droitwich Spa planning to make changes to their community for the better are being urged to take advantage of a new advice pack.

Wychavon District Council has teamed up with Community First to help communities looking to make improvements over the next five to ten years.

They have produced the Parish Plan pack, which will advise community groups, organisations and councils on how to put their ideas into action.

Ideas can include planting trees, launching a new youth club or refurbishing a village hall.

The pack contains essential guidance, signposts to resources and a training programme. It also sets out the support the district council can offer as well as top tips on achieving funding for projects.

District councillor, Audrey Steel, who is responsible for planning policy and rural affairs, said: "Parish plans are like a mini community plan. Residents and community groups at a local level decide what's important to their parish and how they can help improve the quality of life there.

"Although they are community-led plans, with Community First we can offer support ranging from advice on land issues to putting communities in touch with appropriate partners.

"The pack is informative and has been well put together and I have no doubt it will become a must have tool for any group putting together a parish plan."
