Bromsgrove 2nd XI 4 Barlaston 2nd XI 1

MAN of the match Joel Brace lived up to his name by scoring twice as Bromsgrove reignited hopes of winning promotion from the West Midlands Division Two on Saturday.

Brace, a product of Bromsgrove's youth coaching, produced a powerhouse performance as the Boars overcame a poor run of results and avenged their defeat to Barlaston from earlier in the season.

Shaun Jackson set up Steve Gill for Bromsgrove's first goal.

Ali Shaw finished clinically to double the Boars' lead.

Brace then scored from a short corner, before Barlaston pulled a goal back to make it 3-1 at half time.

Bromsgrove wasted no time in attacking Barlaston and Brace scored his second from a corner.

Captain Simon Clifton said: "It was good to see the team working well together, especially our juniors Joel Brace and Karl Troth.

"We need to win all of our games to secure promotion.

"Saturday was an almost perfect performance and a good advert for Bromsgrove's youth programme."
