FISSC 3, Campden Ladies 5
A BRAVE defensive display, led by goalkeeper Megan Beynon-Brown, helped Campden overcome strong opposition.
It was the home team who had most of the possession with most of their playmaking coming down the right wing keeping Frankie Hope and Natasha Beynon-Brown busy.
Backed up by Claire Knight, Becky Ewens and Charlotte Haines in defence, they managed to stop FISSC's initial efforts.
A quick break by Campden was rewarded with a penalty corner that led to Angharad Morgan converting to take the lead. However, the home side found an equaliser before half-time with a strike that was chipped in high across the goalmouth.
The second half saw Campden win more possession of the ball with Shirley Aubrey and Sally Holmes combining well in midfield to provide attacking chances for Katie Dix.
An inspirational few minutes saw the visitors knock in three more goals. Morgan took advantage of a ball saved off the back line by Sarah Bragg to dribble through defenders and flick in her second and soon completed her hat-trick with a flying shot from a wide angle on the right.
Bragg made it 4-1 when she picked up a clearance on halfway and ran straight down the middle and round the last defender before beating the keeper.
FISSC mounted the pressure again and created plenty of chances that either went wide or were blocked. However, their efforts were rewarded with a goal from a wicked deflection.
Campden responded once more when Holmes put Bragg through again and a similar cool finish resulted.
FISSC then put Campden under a barrage of attacks resulting in a series of penalty corners but Beynon-Brown pulled off an amazing save. However, she was beaten for a third time when the ball spun off her pads and into the back of the net.
