THE second round of the play-offs in the Cotswold League saw a minor shock when second ranked St Catharine's, playing with a weakened line- up, went down to a determined Tredington side.

A hat-trick from Callum Ash-ton and a goal from George Cowper sent the Campden side out of the tournament. Adam Mennell scored a late consolation for the Saints.

The other first round match was a much closer affair. Stow, who were the only side to beat the senior school, and Temple Guiting, conquerors of holders Dormer House, proved evenly matched.

With only five minutes left on the clock, Louis Millar gave Guiting the lead with an unstoppable shot.

Just seconds from time, the Guiting keeper made a superb save but the ball kept bouncing towards the line only for a defender to stop it illegally.

The resulting penalty shot was saved and Guiting went through to the quarter-final.

Guiting quickly dominated the last eight clash with two more goals for Millar and one for George Collett.

Will McCoombes gained some consolation for Tredington, who must return after half-term to play against Blockley when a place in the semi-finals will be up for grabs.

Dormer House, Ilmington and Temple Guiting have already booked their places at that stage of the competition.
