THE old saying that children should be seen and not heard was well and truly banished to the history books at the Chatterbox Challenge.
The I-CAN Early Years Language Centre at Cranham Primary School in Tetbury Drive, Warndon, specialises in children who have severe speech and language difficulties.
The sponsored Chatterbox Challenge encouraged the children to learn and perform farmyard themed rhymes, songs and stories to raise awareness and funds.
"It was an excellent day and the children had a great time," said teacher Debbie Carter.
"They learnt to moo, baa and cluck their way through the rhymes and they dressed up too.
"We're still collecting the sponsorship money but we hope to beat last year's total of £700.
"Anyone who still wants to donate can do so by getting in touch with us."
The I-CAN centre is partly funded by the Worcestershire Local Education Authority and Wyre Forest Primary Care Trust.
Children who attend are aged between three and five and have specific language difficulties that require intensive speech therapy.
They participate in two or three lessons a week and for the rest of the time attend their local nursery or school. For more information call 01905 452508.
