MORE than £2,000 has been raised by a Wyre Forest group for a new hospice that will care for young people with life-limiting illnesses.

The district's group of Friends of Acorns Children's Hospice has amassed donations from various events and organisations to go towards the Acorns hospice currently nearing completion in Worcester.

One substantial recent contribution was raised by Kidderminster-based firm, Purac, which made £862.50 for the cause.

Among pubs that have helped swell the coffers are The Plough, Far Forest, Queen's Head, Wolverley and the Bay Horse, Angel Inn and Stagborough Arms, all Stourport.

Anyone who would like a collecting bear for their shop, place of work or pub can ring Graham or Margaret Taylor on 01299 826256.
