COOKLEY Cricket Club, who compete in Division two of the Crusader Worcestershire League, have enlisted the services of Gavin Haynes to coach some of their youngster players.

The former Worcestershire all rounder will be running a six week course at Kinver Leisure centre during the months of March and April 2005. Existing club players aged between 14 and 18 years have been invited but there are still places remaining.

The course is being funded by way of a grant secured from the Sebright Educational Foundation based in Wolverley. Club secretary Will Morgan said: "We have one of the oldest squads in the division which is a problem we need to address.

"The coaching course is part of an initiative to bring on some of the younger team members and attract new players to the club."

The Club was founded in 1869 with its greatest claim to fame coming in 1977 when it won the National Village Knock out at Lords.
