STOURPORT firsts had a weekend off after their friendly at Handsworth was cancelled so attention turned to the seconds.
But despite an encouraging display by the twos, they slipped to a 41-19 defeat at home to University Worcester.
Stourport were out to inflict Worcester's first defeat of the season and started strongly.
They took the lead after two minutes when Gerwain Jones touched down in the corner after intercepting a quick line out and sidestepping the defence.
With Stuart Wilson adding the conversion, Stourport were flying at 7-0 up.
But Worcester were shocked into life and responded with four easy tries, converting all of them.
And although full back Adam Wyton ran in a fine solo try, with Wilson adding the extras, Stourport were 28-14 down at the break.
The second half saw Stourport reorganise their defence to shut Worcester down and they pulled back another five points when Owain Butler went over for an unconverted try.
At that stage Stourport looked like they could sneak something, until the sin-binning of two players gave Worcester a free rein.
The visitors capitalised on their numerical advantage to score two late tries, converting one of them to produce a victory tighter than the scoreline suggests.
The first return to action with a friendly at Upton on Saturday, while the seconds are at home to Upton and the thirds have a friendly at Bridgnorth.
