THE speaker was Bernard Hackett, who wrote and recited his own Black Country poems to members. The poems covered all aspects of everyday life.
Mr Hackett has written more than 150 poems and many had been published.
Diary dates: luncheon club meeting at The Granary Hotel on March 8 and a proposed theatre visit on March 9.
The winner of the hand spun and hand knitted blanket was Mrs Lyn Cooper. Mrs Joyce Roberts had donated the wool and spun it. Members had then taken part in a knitathon to put the blanket together. Proceeds will go to the Children's Society.
The next meeting will be at the Village Hall on Wednesday when the title of the evening will be "February feast".
