SEZINCOTE Farms, Moreton, made a clean sweep in the beef cattle competitions organised by the Moreton Show Society.
The estate won both the class for cattle up to 15-months-old and that for cattle 15 months and over.
Results were as follows: Cattle up to 15-months-old: 1 Sezincote Farms (farm manager Hugh Mitchell), 2 Messrs D.C. and R.J. Fisher, Manor Farm, Hampnett, Northleach, 3 Capt. W.L.Hannay (farm manager Ros Allen) Springhill, Moreton.
Cattle 15 months and over: 1 Sezincote Farms, 2 Barrington Park Estate, Great Barrington.
In the malting barley competition, sponsored by Witney Grain Ltd., the winner was Messrs A.D. Brain & Son, Peters Farm, Broadway, 2 the Hon Philip Smith (farm manager Ian Watts), Campden House Farm, Chipping Campden, 3 W.R. Haines (Leasow Farms) Ltd, Castle Farm, Station Road, Chipping Campden.
The silage competitions were sponsored by Newline (Farm Partnerships) Ltd, of Deerhurst, Tewkesbury, who arranged for the analysis.
Results were as follows: Grass silage - clamp: 1 and the B.O.C.M. Challenge Cup John Harrison, Greystone Farm, Blockley, 2 Robin Dale, Banks Farm, Aston Magna, 3 Robin Dale, Manor Farm, Bourton-on-the-Hill.
Maize silage - clamp: 1 Robin Dale, Manor Farm, Bourton-on-the-Hill, 2 John Harrison, Greystone Farm, Blockley.
Whole crop silage: Messrs R.E. & M.E. Oughton & Sons, Lower Rye Farm, Moreton, 2 Robin Dale, Bank Farm, Aston Magna.
Big bale: 1 Simon Keswick (farm manager Graham Taylor) Rockcliffe, Upper Slaughter, 2 M. MacCurrach, Tagmoor Farm, Bourton-on-the-Water, 3 Capt W. L. Hannay, Springhill, Moreton.
