SIR Michael Spicer says he has no faith in anything said by South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust about the new Malvern hospital.
The West Worcestershire MP said he was astounded that PCT chief executive Mike Ridley had confirmed his commitment to providing a new hospital only to later admit: "In view of the hostility and opposition to the consultation process, I did ask the PCT board whether plans for a new hospital should be aborted."
In a letter to Mr Ridley, Sir Michael said: "The fact that, within one week, you have made both 'the commitment' and the threat of its withdrawal on such spurious grounds . . . leads me to have no faith at all in anything the PCT says about Malvern Hospital."
The MP said the only solution was for the PCT to provide a detailed business plan with clear specifications and information on how it will be funded.
"Until this happens, we'll be left in a fog of uncertainty and increasing scepticism," he said.
