IT will not be long before we are confronted with new Council Tax demands, so we might be justified in enquiring just how much value for money we receive, and in particular how well we are served by the council officials, whose salaries we ultimately pay.
As you are aware, there is a long-running saga about the development of a site at 52 Graham Road.
Ownership of the site has recently changed and, as a concerned resident, I (with others) have been in contact with our local councillor and with the new owners of the site, all of whom have been only too willing to meet with us and discuss the future of the site. Since early December, we have also been trying to get a meeting with council officials, with no success.
Since the beginning of this year, we have a Freedom of Information Act. Some council officials still do not seem to have grasped the cultural change which this involves and do not seem to feel any need to share information with concerned members of the public or to have any interest in their views.
