FEARLESS flipping was demonstrated at pancake races held across the area this week.
On Shrove Tuesday, pupils at Malvern Hills Primary School took part in year group races, while parents tried to flip pancakes as many times as possible without dropping them.
Headteacher Gill Samuels said: "All the children were very excited."
Malvern Girls' College pupils grabbed their frying pans for the annual pancake race in the school quad.
Teams of four girls from each house, plus a staff team, raced to raise funds for Macmillan Nurses.
Girls' college spokeswoman Jane Potter said: "Each team wore outfits in their house colour ensuring a colourful race in more than one sense.
"The whole school urged the teams on and the grand trophy of a highly-prized mounted frying pan was awarded to the winners Greenslade."
Retired staff members Di Redfern and Sonia Chance made and sold between 200 and 300 pancakes, raising around £100.
A charity pancake race at Storridge Village Hall on Sunday was flipping good fun, according to organiser Moira Starkey.
The event raised money for the breast cancer charity Hereford Haven.
Mrs Starkey said the fancy dress races were "one long laugh from beginning to end".
Mrs Starkey said she had chosen to support the Hereford Haven breast cancer support group because four of her friends have had breast cancer surgery and the Haven was a "marvellous place with marvellous people.
"Everyone there is so cheerful and friendly and all the treatments they offer like aromatherapy are free. People feel better just for going in and saying hello," said Mrs Starkey, who has raised almost £1,000 for the charity over the past year.
The pancake race raised £200 and the winning team was Flippin' Mental with Jess Boldry, Kristina Heaton, Briony Dee and Sophie Hickman.
