A NEW anthem celebrating Tarrington is being performed for the first time.
Tarrington Brass is playing the piece at the Parish Church of St Philip and St James in the village on Wednesday, March 30.
Formed in 1999, Tarrington Brass often performs for charity but also do private bookings. Previous concerts included one in Priory Park, Malvern last year.
Tarrington, the anthem, is written by band director Lieutenant Colonel Trevor Sharpe, retired bandmaster of the Coldstream Guards. In his time with the Guards, he secured the contract for the band to play the theme tune from Dad's Army.
Inspiration for the anthem came from a recent visit from the Swiss Rodersdorf Band, which already has a composition about their community.
The performance starts at 8pm and lasts about 45 minutes. Light refreshments will be served after.
