HARRY Potter, Captain Cook and several Sleeping Beauties all attended lessons at Ronkswood Infants School last week.
The Book Character Day was the culmination of a week of storytelling at the school.
Every child dressed as their favourite fairy tale character, and class-by-class took part in a parade at assembly to show off their outfits.
And not all of them were Harry Potters, said deputy head Lisa Hope.
"We have been doing lots of traditional stories and fairy tales, so there were lots and lots of Peter Pans, Captain Hooks and Robin Hoods instead," she said.
"The girls went for Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
"They absolutely loved it. Not only did they dress up, but some of them began to get into character as well - particularly the cowboys dressed as Woody from Toy Story."
The children also spent the week telling fellow-pupils at their twin school in Majorca about traditional British fairy tales, by making some "story bags" which they sent to Spain.
World Book Day is on Thursday, March 3.
