ROD Brown has done his maths ahead of another crucial league run in for Redditch United.

The Reds manager believes a play-off position is "well within their grasp" and admitted his side are just six wins away from another nail-biting end to the season.

"I think we've got an opportunity this season - after we play Ashton on Saturday there's 11 games left and I think if we can win six of them then I believe we'll be in the play-offs.

"If we were up to 47 points by the time we've played Ashton by the end of the season we want to be aiming for 65 points and I'd be quietly confident of getting there."

But Brown warned his team would have to do it the hard way if they were to have a chance of an unbelievable third promotion in two years because of their a run-in to the end of the season which will see them up against all of the top clubs.

Reds will have to travel to Worcester, Harrogate and Doylesdon and also play leaders Southport, Kettering and Nuneaton at the Valley in a mouth-watering end to the campaign.

Reds players heeded their managers warning to get back to winning ways with a sterling 3-1 win over basement boys Bradford PA at the Valley on the weekend.

A Scott Rickards brace was added to by Richard Softley before a Bradford consolation but the result saw the Reds back up into sixth place in the Nationwide North and still in the thick of play-off contention.

Brown said: "I really thought we played well because the weather conditions weren't the best and obviously we haven't been playing well the past few games after the three poor results.

"We really needed to get our priorities back in order."

Brown admitted that he's still on the look out for a striker and believes he's two players away from completing his squad.

He said: "I'm still looking for a striker, I'm speaking with a lot of football league managers to see who they have their eye on."
