REDDITCH archer Jonathan Mynott has been selected for the Great Britain team.
Mynott, who is currently ranked fifth in the UK and first in the county, qualified for the World Indoor Archery Championships in Denmark in March after arrowing through the elimination shoot at Lilleshall National Sports Centre recently.
Compound section archer Mynott is the first member of Redditch Company of Archers to be selected for the British team.
The elimination contest at Lilleshall saw Mynott up against invited archers from across the Britain all shooting for just three places available for the compound section.
After the morning's shooting one competitor had already retired after suffering extreme target panic but the remaining six were all neck and neck.
Mynott held his nerve in the next head to head competition to finish joint first with Neil Waklin.
Both Waklin and Mynott had a one arrow shoot-off to decide the winner and secure the only funded place in the team.
Mynott again held his nerve and scored a nine but Waklin went one better with a ten.
The World Championships will take place at Aalborg, Denmark between March 22 and 28.
The Redditch Company of Archers bowman has been with the group for less than two years but in that time has already taken a barrow-load of trophies including the Outdoor British Target Championships and the Worcester and West Midland Indoor Championship.
